Teacher Words

Important Dates
3/1 PE Testing will begin and will continue until
18th
3/10-3/18 Student Led conferences, minimum days
3/21-4/03 Spring Break

We are continuing the PE 5th grade testing. We are

also getting ready for our Student Led Conferences.
If you still have any assessments please make sure
to sign it and return it to your child.

Language Arts

Book Clubs

Hot Topic

We are continuing to work on

summarizing, inferring, comparing
characters, settings and events to
address theme. We are now
moving on to understanding
literary structure, point of view and
will be comparing stories.

Half of the clubs are working on

their power points and will be
ready to present. The other half
are working on finishing up their
books while they converse for
understanding. Power-points are
done on their one drive so they are
all working simultaneous.

Because many are starting or are in

extra curricular activities I am trying
to have the next weeks Hot Topic
posted on Weebly. In addition, if it
gets lost or if absent you can always
download it from Weebly.

Math

Science

Historia

They did take their assessment but I will hold on to them

to see them during conference time. We will be doing a
review of standards and retesting to improve their grades
for the report cards for three days. Then we will begin
our unit on dividing decimals.
I will be sending games that the students can play to
review different standards.

We will continue with our

matter unit. The reading part
will be in Spanish since we will
start reading our shared
reading in English. We will be
doing investigation that will be
in English to reinforce their
understandings.

We are done with

explorer. Our next
unit will be in two
weeks. We will
begin the unit of
Colonies.

Classroom information:
We will be going to Rileys Farm the Friday after we come back from break. Please return the permission slips
(2) as soon as possible and the funds by March 16th. Each 5th grade teacher is only allowed to take 4
chaperones and they will also need to pay the $40 donation. If seats become available I will keep a waiting list
in case more spots become available. As of right now Ms. Escalante, Mrs. Welch, Mrs. Murillo and Mr. Camacho
will be attending as the chaperones. It was based on first come first serve bases and if they had not attended
any other fieldtrip in order to provide all parents an opportunity to attend at least one fieldtrip if they liked to.
