Essay / Selfie Contest

Contest Guidelines: All essays must include your first name, last name, and your advisors
name. The essay must be double-spaced, 12-pt font, Times New Roman font, 1 margins, and be
2 pages in length. Email submissions to cunystart@bmcc.cuny.edu.
We are looking for detailed essays and creative, clear, crisp selfies! Check spelling and grammar
before emailing us your final copy. Several winners will be chosen!

Pick one topic:

1) What is the one greatest educational challenge you have overcome and what steps did
you take to overcome it? Include a selfie with a background with anything that
represents education to you.
2) Describe one person, book or movie that has influenced you greatly. How did they
influence you? How did your thinking change as a result of meeting this person, reading
the book or watching the movie? Include a selfie with a creative background signifying
change.
3) Describe in detail, your favorite place in New York City. What makes this place special
for you? Write a descriptive essay and include a selfie with your favorite place in the
background.
4) Write a letter to a junior in high school who is not sure about college. What would you
say? What advice would you give this junior? Include a selfie in a college setting.
