NRCAL HIGHLIGHT
Happy Lunar New Year!
According to both the Chinese and Vietnamese Zodiacs, this is the year of
the Monkey! This period starts from February 8, 2016 and ends on January
27, 2017. Those born in the Year of the Monkey are believed to be intelligent, dignified, optimistic, and curious.
Good Luck Traditions
According to Vietnamese tradition, this is the time of year where many
young people receive money in "lucky" red envelopes, called l x. The red
color is considered lucky and is meant to ward off evil spirits.

The Lantern Festival is traditionally held on the fifteenth day of each lunar
new years first month. Riddle solving remains a popular activity during
the festival as people of all ages strive to prove their intellect. Featured in
the Lantern Festival is the dragon dance. The dragons, made of wood, aluminum, or plastic can vary in length, anywhere between 25-70 meters
long. The longest dragon ever produced was over 5 km long!
