Create your Own Textbook Project- WWII

Due: Friday, March 11th, 2016 * 100 Points


Textbooks are typically boring there is no way around it. How can we make
learning about history more interesting? Creating your own textbook! You will work
with a group to create an interesting, yet informative textbook unit about World War
II. There should be no more than 2-4 people in a group. You can work by yourself,
but remember that your load will be heavier because the expectations are the
same. This will be a unique opportunity for you to get creative with historical
content and showcase your knowledge in a new way. You will have extensive class
time to work on this with your group. You will also receive a CWSP grade for your
ability to:

Transition effectively (for example, between tasks, personnel,


and organizations)

Your WWII unit will be graded on the following:


1. _____/15 points: Transitions (CWSP)- using class time productively and final product
turned in on time
2. _____/15 points: Cover page(s) complete with (you create these):
a. Title
b. Big Idea/Objective
c. Introduction to WWII paragraph(s)
d. Outline of chapters
e. At least two graphics
f. Authors names
3. _____/ 60 points (15 per chapter): At least four chapters in the unit covering the
main topics of WWII
a. You can organize and name them yourself
i. Before the War/Causes of the War/Start of the War
ii. War in Europe/Asia (What happened? Countries involved, battles,
Holocaust)
iii. American Involvement (Initial neutrality, start, end, what happened at
home, battles)
iv. End of the War/Aftermath (bombings, surrender, Cold War
consequences)
b. Each chapter needs the following:
i. Three written paragraphs including:
1. Overview of what happened
2. Major events with dates (make sure its chronological)
3. At least 5 key people/vocab terms defined
ii. Two critical-thinking questions at the end of each chapter
iii. At least two primary source documents featured or referenced (photos,
quotes, etc.)
iv. Graphics/extras
4. ______/ 5 points: Creativity
a. Digital (could use publisher or word) or Hand-written
b. Printed and Bound Together
5. ______ /10 points: Cohesiveness/Conventions
a. Organization
i. Dont have some digital chapters and some hand-written chapters
b. Citations for all sources in MLA formatting

c. 3rd person

You need to start your research NOW. Use your Americans textbook, other books,
and credible websites for information about World War II. Make sure you do not
plagiarize. Cite all your work.
