February 14-20 of this year is observed as National Intellectual Disability

Week in our country pursuant to the enclosed Presidential Proclamation No. 1385,
Series of 1975. The celebration seeks to emphasize the importance of the role of
the child within the Filipino family and in nation building. It also supports our
Philippine Constitution, which recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation building
and mandates the promotion and protection of their physical, moral, intellectual, and
social well-being by instilling in them the values of patriotism and nationalism,
among others, as well as encouraging in public and civic affairs.
