SW PORTOFLOIO: REFLECTION OF LEARNING PRODUCT 1

This is one of my first papers in the B.S.W program. I chose to reflect on this paper
because it is one of the papers that stuck out to me the most. This paper is about my familys
origin and some of the struggles we faced from being a minority family in poverty. In this paper I
talk about all of the struggles my city (Flint, MI) was going through and it is crazy to see how
things have gotten worse since then. I also talk about some of the struggles my family been
through being African American and living in poverty. We still rely on religion to get through
some of the struggles. We also rely on education to get ahead in life. As a student about to
graduate, my family constantly reminds me of how proud they are of me. I also reflect on how
my cultural identity my affect me as a social worker and effect my values.
All in all I think I wrote a good paper. It was well put together. I identified some of the
obstacles that my family has faced as African Americans. I also identified how my cultural
identity may affect my work as a social worker. This is a very solid and straight to the point
paper. It is great to see how I organized this paper and how it flowed very well. It is very
understandable and the grammar is fine. I answer everything that was asked of me in this paper.
It is interesting to see how I wrote when I first started the program and how I write now. I have
come a very long way and I have improved a lot. I still sometimes struggle with grammar but in
this paper, I do not see that as a problem.
