Dear Parents of

As I will be a student teacher in

until the 18th of September,

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is John Perkins and I am studying to become a primary school teacher at
the University of South Australia. Some of you might know that I had a 2 week
placement with this class in June. This placement helped me to get to know your
children and slowly understand how they learn best. While I did some teaching then,
in this placement I will be building up to teaching more and more, until I take over all
teaching duties in my final week from the 14th to 18th of September. Of course this
will be happening under

guidance and supervision.

In this time we will be doing some fun and interesting activities and learning units. In
particular, I will be running a unit on persuasive writing, which will lead up to a
shorter unit on debating. Also, in science we will be looking at measuring, where we
will be building thermometers and similar instruments.
I am already enjoying the classroom atmosphere and assisting with your childrens
learning. I will be doing all that I can to help these great children along the way to
reaching their potential while learning how I can do this at the same time.
