Just Friends

There’s a part of me that wishes he could be the one

It took a while to realize that I need to let go of my past to move on.

He’s really not like the few others I’ve fallen for,

He’s different, not afraid to be himself and is truly amazing,

But the fact that we’re just friends keeps me from gazing.

We’re just friends and nothing more,

One day I finally told him what I felt right down to the core

He said he was sorry, that he’s probably not the right person for me
and that he only saw me as a friend, I already knew it though.

How could I have told him that knowing we’re just friends and nothing
more.
