Caution:

Convention in electrical installations is that a threephase system marked L1, L2, L3 is a clockwise
system
In practice: the electrician will have messed it up

Boldea, I., Tutelea L., Electric Machines, CRC Press 2010

Design Task
A large conveyor shall be driven with a speed of 150 rpm +/- 10%
Nominal torque required to drive the conveyor is 812 Nm
The torque can increases to 1035 Nm for 27 s. This period of higher torque
demand is followed by 63 s operation at the nominal torque of 812 Nm.
Two types of gears can be used:
Type A: ratio 20:1, = 93%
Type B: ratio 10:1, = 92.5%

Find the cheapest motor solution.

If the most energy efficient solution is the goal, would this affect motor selection?
