What We Are Learning in Room 102

Reading This week we continued to work on retelling. We also learned
how to identify the problem and solution.
Writing In Writing Workshop, we began writing stories about going to
the science museum. The kids are so excited about these stories! Their
imaginations are running wild as they describe their ideal museum,
inventing things, and making experiments. We are definitely in the Mad
Science spirit!
Math This week we began Topic 5: Counting and Number Patterns to
100. You can help your first grader at home by practicing skip counting
by 5s and 10s to 110.
Word Study We have been using the Chunky Monkey strategy quite
frequently. Ask your first grader to sing the new Chunky Monkey remix
song.

Wesley
This week we admired Wesleys family
pictures. We learned that Wesley
plays piano. Wesley brought in his
stuffed owl for his mystery bag, and
Hannah guessed it after the 3rd clue.
We also read his favorite book,
Trouble at the Dinosaur Caf. Thanks
for being our star, Wesley!

Next Star: Layla
