ABSTRACT
In this report, Omeprazole will be discussed, we will see if it has
other names or not, the chemical makeup, the chemical structure
of Omeprazole, and the purpose of Omeprazole. We will also
discuss the side effects of the drug, its presence in the world, and
its presence in Palestine.
INTRODUCTION
Omeprazole was first sold in the United States of America in 1989
under the brand name Losec. Its name was changed into Prilosec
by the Drug Administration in the U.S. In April, 2011 it was
given its modern name Omeprazole.
METHODS
1- Cork balls.
2- Marshmallow.
3- Toothpicks.

Purpose of the Drug

Omeprazole is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux
disease and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. It is
also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to
your esophagus caused by stomach acid). Omeprazole may also
be given together with antibiotics to treat gastric ulcer caused by
infection.
Side Effects of the Drug
1- Diarrhea that is watery or bloody.
2- Low magnesium (dizziness, confusion, fast or uneven heart
rate, jerking muscle movements, jittery feeling, muscle
cramps, muscle weakness or limp feeling, cough or choking
feeling, seizure).
3- Cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, and sore
throat.
4- Stomach pain, and gas.
5- Nausea, vomiting, mild diarrhea.
6- Headache.
Presence in the World
Omeprazole is presented all over the world as tablets and
capsules (containing omeprazole or omeprazole magnesium.)

Presence in Palestine
Omeprazole is available in Palestine as tablets ex: Nexium tablets.
