ABSTRACT
This paper will discuss the drug Permethrin, its uses, side effects
and purpose. As well as it will have the history of the drug and, its
presents in the world and in Palestine.
INTRODUCTION
Permethrin is a beneficial drug to a certain extent. In 1974, the
Rothamsted team discovered permethrin, which turned out to be
resistant to degradation by light and air. This made them suitable
for agriculture but not suitable for humans considering them
toxics. It is used in many countries but banned in others.

Purpose of the Drug

It is a topical cream that is used to treat scabies. Scabies is a


skin disease caused by a tiny insect called mite. Permethrin is
neurotoxin that works by paralyzing nerves in respiratory
muscles of scabies causing their death. 3
Side Effects of the Drug
Skin irritation, including itching, swelling, and redness, may
occur with scabies and temporarily worsen after treatment with
Permethrin. Very severe burning or stinging may also occur. 4
Presence in the World
It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential
Medicines, the most important medications needed in a
basic health system. This means that it is found all over the
world. 5
Presence in Palestine
It is found in all the pharmacies in Palestine
