Or
Stonehill Students had the Last Word!
On Saturday, December 5th Stonehill hosted its very first interschool SpeechDrama-Debate competition. The Last Word - an Interschool Speech and Drama
Competition was held at the Stonehill campus. Close to 40 participants from
three schools participated in the event that had a range of activities such as
Mad Ads, Original Oratory, Oral Interpretation and Debate. The participants were
from Indus International School, Canadian International School and Stonehill
International School. The action packed event started at 9 am and went on till
4:00pm and culminated with some thrilling news for our students.
The topic for the Public Forum Debate was:
Religious satire should be
considered hate speech. Each school had up to 2 teams of two participants in
each team. The emphasis in a Public Forum Debate is placed on actual clash
between the two sides through Cross-Fire question and answer sessions. The
topic for the Street Play was in line with the theme for debate. The students had
to create a play on Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Religious Harmony. On a
lighter note, the Mad Ads which were charged with creativity were based on the
product given at the spot which was Hanger. Both teams, from Indus
International School and Stonehill International School created hilarious
advertisements that were highly creative. Original Oratory had an interesting mix
of topics, ranging from ISIS to Honesty in Appreciation and Oral Interpretation
saw some dramatic readings of some popular poems and story.
Stonehill won first place in Public Forum Debate, Mad Ad and Original Oratory;
second place in Street Play, Oral Interpretation and third place in Oral
Interpretation.
