Colorado Beer & Wine

Initiative Survey
February 23rd 24th, 2016

Magellan Strategies is pleased to

present the results of a 704n
automated landline and cell phone
survey of likely 2016 general election
voters in Colorado. The interviewing
was conducted February 23rd 24th,
2016. This survey has a margin of error
of +/-3.69% at the 95 percent
confidence interval.

Key Findings

Among all respondents, 55% of likely 2016

voters supporting an initiative to allow
full-strength beer and wine to be sold in
supermarkets, 42% oppose the initiative
and 3% are undecided.
Not surprisingly, support levels for the
initiative are the strongest among
younger voters, 64% of voters aged 18 to
34 support the initiative and 61% of voters
aged 35 to 44 support the initiative.

The only age group that a majority

oppose the initiative are seniors aged 65
or older. However, it is still close with 46%
supporting the initiative and 51%
opposing it.
If younger voters constitute 20% or more
to the total vote this November, it is likely
the initiative will pass.

Uninformed Ballot Test of

Beer & Wine Initiative

As you may know, there is likely to be a citizens initiative on the ballot this November that would allow
full-strength beer and wine to be sold in supermarkets in Colorado, and could only be sold by an
employee that is 21 years or older. If an election were being held today, would you vote YES and
approve this citizens initiative to allow the sale of full-strength beer and wine in supermarkets or would
you vote NO and reject it?
