The document I collected is a close reading strategy chart.
What does this document show?
This document shows the strategies students use to dig deeper into the meaning of text. This chart outlines and explains the process/steps taken during close reading. The first reading is done to break the surface. The second reading gets more information and to gain a better understanding of the text. During this time student explore words and phrases they don not understand, and analyze the text. The third reading is done to attain a deep understanding, and read close to answer questions.
Reflection: What are your thoughts/opinions about this document?
This is a document I would love to have in my class and implement this strategy in my class also. This strategy is good to teach students to use when reading informational texts and poetry, which can be a little harder for students to understand.
