Still Time To Sign Up For Horror Film Training Weekend Featuring “Saw II”

Would-be creators of horror-inspired films will learn how to bring their cinematic nightmares to life by
attending the May 7 – 9, 2010 Horror Film Boot Camp to be held in Albuquerque, NM. Attendees from all
over the world will be learning how to produce and direct commercial horror features from working
professionals. There is still time for last minute signups at the program’s website

The only filmmaker’s training program dedicated exclusively to horror films, this weekend intensive will
introduce attendees to seasoned, real world professionals including writer/director Darren Lynn
Bousman, Kutly Tlapoyawa, Spooky Dan Walker, and Michael Emanuel.

The teatching staff is impressive. Best known for directing Saw II, III and IV, Bousman is one of the most
successful horror filmmakers working today and it was recently announced that Bousman will be directing
the upcoming horror film Ninety. Tlapovawa co-authored Direct Your Damn Movie with Troma
Entertainment legend, Lloyd Kaufman. Walker has done effects in more than 50 TV shows and films, as
well as written for leading horror websites. Emanuel is a successful actor who has produced a number of
horror films and starred in the film Lucky. Moderator Lee Stranahan has worked in special effects and film
and TV production for close to 30 years.

Horror Film Boot Camp Program Director Lee Stranahan says, “We’re honored that Darren Bousman is
scheduled to be part of this training program. He’s not only one of the world’s most successful horror
filmmakers but has demonstrated a real connection to his fans and the horror community. Joined by
Kurly, Dan, and Mike, our instructors have worked at every budget imaginable and in every department
from stunts to visual effects to acting.”

Seminar participants will gain the self-confidence, skills, knowledge, and connections necessary to take
their horror dreams from concept to final distributed product. Best of all, this will be no sit-and-listen
educational setting. Attendees will gain genuine on-set experience while learning how to keep expenses
and shooting schedules on target.

Topics to be covered during the three-day experience are the state of the horror market, scriptwriting and
pre-production, casting challenges, makeup and prosthetics, practical and visual effects, stunts and fight
scenes, building intensity with music and editing – and selling the film.
