ABSTRACT
This paper is about loratadine, a pharmaceutical drug. It shows the other
name(s) for this drug. The paper also talks about the side effects of the drug.
It includes the purpose of the drug. It also includes information about the
presence of the drug in the world and in Palestine, specifically. It shows the
chemical structure and the chemical make-up.
INTRODUCTION
Loratadine was introduced to the world in Belgium in 1988. It was approved
as a prescription drug in the US in 1993 for seasonal allergies. In 1995, it was
approved for CIU. This drug helps with many different allergies and fevers. n
most countries, loratadine is available as a non-prescription drug, it is
recommended for allergic rhinitis, allergic skin disorders, and hives/urticaria. 1

MATERIALS
1. Marshmallows
2. Sticks/ Tooth Picks
PROCEDURE
1. Look at the chemical structure.
3. Use different colors of marshmallows to represent the different
elements.
4. Use the tooth picks to attach them together.

It is called Loratadine. It can also be referred to as Claritin.

Purose of the Drug

It is an antihistamine that minimizes the effects of the chemical histamine
in the body. Histamine can produce nasal and non-nasal allergies or
symptoms. Such symptoms could be sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose,
etc.
Side Effects of the Drug
There many different side effects. They could vary of the level of
dangerousness. Examples of the side effects of this drugs are:

Abnormal, fast or uneven, heartbeat.

Seizures.
The feeling of passing out.
Jaundice, which is the yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Headache.
Stomach Pain.
Dry mouth; sore throat.

Presence in the World

The presence of Loratadine in the world is abundant. It is available in many
countries in Europe like Germany, Spain, France, etc. It is also available in
both North and South America, Africa and Asia.
Presence in Palestine
Information of its existence is not provided. Though, it is found in Israel in
different trade names.
