In what way does your media product, use,

develop or
challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?

Requiem For a Dream.

To the right we see a screenshots
of three quick cuts that played
back to back in our opening
sequence, below we see
screenshots of three quick cuts
that played back to back in the
film Requiem For a Dream (2000).
Our scene is very similar to that in
requiem for a dream, however
there are some differences as we
tried to develop from the form of
the movie.

Our intentions were to develop from the

quick cuts used in the movie. We used shots
that were not as close up to what was going
on but not wide frame shots so we did not
loose the effect. We also tried to replicate
the sounds they used in the movie, however
we made them ourselves to make it more
authentic.

Here we used the

convention of a real
media product. we
made a tracking shot
using a steady cam
that bares a lot of
resemblance to this
tracking shot in
Goodfellas (1990).

Our tracking
shot follows
our main girl
down the stairs
while the
tracking shot
in Goodfellas
follows one the
main
characters
down the stairs
in a similar

The Wolf Of Wall

Street.
Here we see a shot of
Jordan Belfort in The
Wolf of Wall Street
(2013) organizing his
drugs. In this case we
used the conventions
of a real media project
by trying to recreate
this shot however
changing the angle of
the shot.

As you can see

here these two
tracking shots are
very similar. They
both feature
intimidating men
walking and
filming them from
behind. The only
difference is the
lighting.

Here we have a shot

from the Hozier music
video, which as you
can see is similar to
the screen shot from
thriller opening
sequence.

Here we have a close up

from the film London to
Brighton (2006). It is
similar to our close up of
mike, extreme close ups
like this can help to create
a mood due to the exposer
of facial expressions.

Here we see a
screenshot from the TV
program Skins of Effy
lying under a bed. It
looks a lot like our shot
of Izzy lying in fear of
Mike. Here I feel as
though we developed
this convention from a
real media product.
