Chinese Comprehensive
Please post your reaction paper regarding the similarity and difference of people's
fundamental rights to vote in China and in the United States.
My reaction towards the similarity and difference of peoples fundamental rights to vote
in China and in the United States was not that shocking. I assumed that they would be similar in
most part but there is a possibility that there would be a greater difference because we are all
different. Similarities such as being a citizen and despite their background such as education,
race, literary skills, and criminal records, as long as they are registered to vote and is a citizen;
they are allowed to vote. It seemed pretty obvious that there will be an age limit, it is similar to
the laws on drinking. In most cases, they have to be at least 21 of age to be able to drink; it is
exactly the same thing for voting except that they have to be eighteen.
The most shocking difference that I have found was that in China, the president is not
elected by the majority of their country people but rather the NPC. The National People's
Congress (usually abbreviated NPC) is the national legislature of the People's Republic of China.
With 2,987 members in 2013, it is the largest parliamentary body in the world. I didnt know that
the citizens would trust a parliamentary body to elect their own president, the head of state whom
have the authority to affect their lives. Though it is the same on the majority vote for the election
but the fact that they did not include the general population in the voting seems to be unfair to
me.
Comparing China and the United States fundamental rights to vote, they are mostly
similar. But if I have to choose I would have went towards the United States. They went through

so much for the citizens right to vote, despite their gender, race, and age. After all those years of
struggling and fighting, all citizens that have registered to vote are allowed to. And nothing can
prevent them from doing that. Though it is similar to China, I just dont believe that the citizens
should trust the National Peoples Congress, to determine their Head of State.
