Discussion:

In this experiment, Bradford assay was used to determine the bovine milk
concentration. When Bradford reagent added to the samples, blue colour solution
formed as this indicated that the presence of protein. The amount of blue colour is
proportional to protein concentration. The greater the protein concentration the more
intense the blue colour is. Before assay the commercial sample of milk, standard
proteins sample mixed with Bradford reagent should be prepared for plotting a
standard curve of absorbance at 595nm against protein concentration. Bovine serum
albumin (BSA) with known concentration is generally used as the standard protein.
From our results obtained, the concentration of milk samples S2 to S4 increases then
decreases. These unstable readings may due to the amount of proteins that we taken
are inconsistent as some of the proteins when we transfer from the centrifuge tubes to
the cuvettes could be left behind.
