MATH TRICKS!

Pascals Triangle
Hi. In this issue I will be sharing with you Pascals Triangle,a
very mystical and magical concept in math. If you like patterns, then good.Its
full of patterns that can even help with memorisation.
Heres what his triangle looks like:

11 = 111

1 2 1

121 = 112

1 3 3 1

1331 = 113

1 4 6 4 1

14641 = 114

1 5 10 10 5 1 = 161051* = 115
1 6 15 20 15 6 1 = 1771561* = 116
1 7 21 35 35 21 7 1 = 19487171* = 117
and so on
Every number except for the 1s are obtained by adding the two
numbers above it. The outer lines contain 1s only. The second diagonal line
from the left contains consecutive natural numbers (numbers which are
positive excluding 0).The third line contains triangle numbers, from the
formula [nx(n+1)]2. The fourth line contains tetrahedral numbers,from
(n3+3n2+2n)6. (The highligted part in the triangle above shows one of
the diagonal lines Im talking about.)
If you add the numbers on every horizontal line, you get the
powers of two. If you put the numbers in a horizontal line closer, you get the
powers of 11. *However, there are the two digit numbers which cause
problems. To encounter this problem, carry the digits before the ones digit to
the number to its left. (Refer to the triangle above.)
1

1 2 1
1 3 3 1
1 4 6 4 1
1 5 10 10 5 1
1 6 15 20 15 6 1

1 7 21 35 35 21 7 1
The Fibonacci series can also be obtained by adding the
numbers highlighted with the same colour (1, 2, 3, 5, 8 , 13, 21, etc.) whch
have a lower diagonal.
The triangle goes on for infinity and can also be used to replace
the Binomial Theorem,a method that is supposedly convenient in the
expansion of (a+b)n,which is far more complex than this.
