I am writing on behalf of Dr. Wendy McDonald, Third Grade Teacher at River Oaks
Elementary (ROE) School in the Horry County Schools, Myrtle Beach, SC. As her assistant
principal for the 2014-15 school year, she has proven to be a valuable asset to the school.
She has a thorough knowledge of the elementary curriculum and of the vision of Horry
County Schools, and is dedicated to ensuring that her students are provided opportunities
to succeed in every area. She is supportive of her team and her students and holds high
expectations for all. She does everything in her capacity to help those students reach
those expectations.
Dr. McDonald conducts herself with the utmost of professionalism, whether she is dealing
with students, employees, parents, or community members, and possesses the ability to
listen carefully to all parties involved in any situation before making decisions or
recommending solutions to problems. Dr. McDonald works hard to ensure that students are
aware of her explicit expectations in the classroom. She is an advocate for putting the
needs of her students first and making quality education decisions to challenge and
support them in their learning.
During this year, Dr. McDonald collaborated with Mr. Homer, teachers, and parents as the
504 Coordinator to ensure that the needs of the students were being met. She also
collaborated with teachers on her grade level for planning and differentiating purposes. In
my experience, Dr. McDonald has proven to be a hard working educator. She uses data to
determine the needs of her students and monitors and adjusts her instruction to best meet
those needs.
