outsideofasetofparentheses.Youstartofwiththefirstterm,whichwillcancel
itselfoutandleavex^2.Nextyoudividethenextterm,14by2,whichequals7
andyouleavethex,makingit7x.Sinceitspositiveyouadd+7xintotheequation
andcontinuewiththethirdandlastterm.Onthelasttermyouonlydivide20by
2,whichequals10andyouadd+10intotheequation,duetononumbersbeing
negative.Yourfinalfactoredtrinomialshouldbe2(x^2+7x+10)
5. Afterthat,youmustplugequationintoXusingax^2+bx+c.Youaregoingtouse
thecertainorderthatisusedwhenpluggingequationsintoX.Inordertodothis
youmustfindwhichnumberisA,whichoneisB,andwhichoneisC.Nowyou

6. NextyoufindthefactorsofC(10)andplugthemintotheXwealreadyhave.For
thefactorswemustfindtwothatmultipletoC(10)andadduptoB(7).Thosetwo
numbersshouldbepositive2and5.
7. Finallyyoufinishtheequation.Itcomesdownto(x+2)(x+5),butyoualsocant
forgetthe2wefactoredoutinthebeginning,soyouaddthatinthefrontofthe
equation.Youfinalanswerisnow2(x+2)(x+5)andyoucannowboxyour
equation.
