Dear resident,
As the result of continued evaluation of current and future electric grid needs in
the Cumberland County region, PPL Electric Utilities has decided to cancel
construction of the proposed Williams Grove-Carlisle transmission line at this
time.
Because of the rapid growth in electricity demand in the region, we believe a
more comprehensive solution may be necessary to improve the reliability of
service for homes and businesses.
Cumberland County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. The
resulting increased power demand could drive the need for investments in
additional power lines or substations in the region in the future.
We still are moving ahead with PPLs other planned projects in eastern
Cumberland County including the Williams Grove substation, new power lines
running north from the substation, and the rebuilding of aging power lines mostly
in Upper Allen Township. These projects need to be completed within the next
several years to help prevent power outages for homes and businesses.
As we identify future projects required in the area, we will communicate them.
Our focus remains on working to reduce the number and duration of outages and
continuing to provide you with safe, reliable electric service.
Thank you again for your interest and input. Should you have additional
questions, you still can call the toll-free project number at 1-855-310-3446.
Sincerely,

Jessica M. Long
