MODULE TITLE Information and Communications Technology to
Support Learning

Assessment Strategy
Summative Assessment
Produce a 4000 – 5000 word report outlining the specific role of ICT in learning support settings. This
will include the effective use of ICT in terms of raising student achievement and outline an ICT
response to a work-based problem.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding:

1 Understands the role and interaction of government initiatives in sustaining the use of ICT.
2 Evaluates the principles and practice of effective ICT use.

Ability:
1 Analyses the principles and practice of ICT in relation to a specific learning situation.
2 Investigates the application of an ICT solution to a pedagogical problem.

What you must do:-

1. In your report reflect and analyse the impact of at least two Government initiatives
and demonstrate how these have affected the development of the ICT polices
within your own place of work or experience. You will need to accurately reference
and identify the two chosen policies in your bibliography. (approx 2000 to 2500
words)

2. Identify a learning related problem and investigate a suitable software application to

solve this problem. Your report should include a reflective account of the
background to the problem, the application of the software and your own analysis
of the end results. Seminar paper two will present an opportunity to share the initial
thoughts and issues. (approx 2000 to 2500 words or equivalent)

NOTES

You must demonstrate that reading and research has formed a key part of your
learning in this module, in addition to developing your understanding of the application
of theories to practical day to day issues.
