Evaluation Question

____________________
In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

For this evaluation question I will be analysing the types of

media I was using to help create my main task and my 2
ancillary's and then reflecting them to types of convention's
use in real life media. I will be showing this be producing
several slides, viewing several screenshots in the ways I have
shown these media techniques and reviewing and writing about
them.

Music Video
To start off with, I have chosen this particular screenshot from my
filming evidence because it simply shows where I have been
(Snowy cold climate) and it also shows that I have gone into great
consideration, when thinking about the different type of locations
that I have filmed in.
This screenshot was when I was filming my video in Finland ad I
tried to crate an atmosphere of freedom and adventure for my
music video which is why I chose to film myself skiing and I wanted
to try and catch the staggering view point from where I was
standing but unfortunately the weather was quite poor when I was
their. In the sense that it was always clouded over and there was no
blue sky to see which would have automatically made this video a
lot better.

Music Video
For my second screenshot I have selected this image because I think it
best shows the emotion and the singing that I recorded myself doing
for my music video. In order to make my music video look professional I
had to film myself, as the artist, singing to the lyrics of the song. What
really brings out my facial image in this picture is the use of the black
and white affect that I was able to use on iMovie itself, I was able to
change the image into all different types of colours but because there
was a natural light source shining on myself already I though that by
going with a black and white affect It kind of fades away my shoulders
into the background which gives it the serial affect, and in any of
Aviciis videos it shows him either singing to his video or performing on
stage, so the realistic thing to do was take the opportunity to film

Music Video
For my third screenshot of my music video I have chosen the scene
where me and y mum are arguing. What I was trying to succeed in
doing for this sequence was create a tense and emotional
atmosphere for the views which would then escalated to why i want
the freedom throughout the video, which is then the moment where
I include clips of myself skiing and snowmobiling. I use various
close ups and mid shots, along with a Shot-reverse-shot sequence
to try and capture as many camera angles as I can to create that
sort of atmosphere for the viewer to keep them interested and to
see what I do next in the video. To emphasis that this argument is
quite a intense one we both used several facial expressions to
create the image that we were really angry and frustrated with
each other.

Poster Ancillary
As part of our Ancillary tasks that I had
to complete this is one of the examples
that I chose to do. I created a poster to
help the promotional side of my music
video and this is near enough the final
product. As you can see I have chosen
to use loads of different effects by
playing around with the setting on
Photoshop. I managed to play around
with the saturation and the contrast for
the background colours and the colours
on the cloths that I was wearing and as
you can see from the example (Before)
and (After) that I have made a hug
improvement to what it originally
would have looked like if I didn'tt add
any effects to it. I also chose a specific
text format off the link bellow. To
make the social networking sights
stand out, this is a way of getting the
word around through social networking
sights as well as the streets.

Poster ancillary:
Continuing on from the previous
slide, this picture is one of many
various pictures that I was able
to take for the background for
my poster. What I ask my friend
Dave to do was try and take a
variety of shots which enabled
enough space for myself and a
poster like figure to fit in the
back, I was thinking more like the
rule of thirds side, in the sense
that I wanted it to be 1/3 of the
picture with me in it and the 2/3
just the background wood affect.
I have chosen this sort of display
because it reflects upon my
music video in the sense of I
have a variety of close ups shots
for when I am singing that I have
used in the video.

Poster Ancillary:
This screenshot appears in not only one of my ancillarys but both of
them because I believe that they work really well in both tasks. It reflects
on the Digipak because it is the front cover for my Digipak, and it really
brings out the intensity and freedom in the picture as well as it doing the
same job for my poster. Relating it to my other slide I have used the rule
of thirds, in order to create the type of atmosphere that the song relates
to, I want people buying my Digipak and I believe the best way to do it is
for people to see more of this specific picture.

Digipak Ancillary:
Moving onto my other ancillary task which involved myself in making a Digipa
for my music video. This screenshot hear is near enough my final product, I
have made a few tweaks to this after I took this screenshot. What I have done
hear to try and grab the audiences attention is try to use thing which I believe
explain the definition on what I believe freedom is. Which is why I have used
various shots of landscapers for the backgrounds covers. I have changed the
affects on them by again using Photoshop and tried to tint the colour so that it
shows the same sort of colour affect for all of them. I have gone with the type
of mid-night blue, because I did try out loads off other colours but I believe
that this one worked the best in all of the picture. As well as that I went with
the black and white affect for the bottom row because they are slightly
different pictures all together, they are actual pictures that are taken of
something or its a picture where it has to be a certain colour so that the
writing is readable on the front.

Digipak Ancillary:
These pictures that I have chosen from the rest are the pictures before I
changed them into the effect that is shown in the slide above. The
reason I have gone with the sunset type of affect is because when the
sky shows its beautiful colours at the end of the day thats when I know
that it has been a good day, which makes myself as a person feel free.
These are just simple pictures that I have just taken when I am just out
and about, and I am sure that I am not the only person that sees them
as well.

Digipak Ancillary:
In this last screenshot for my Digipak Ancillary, I have these few pictures
because they all include either text or a logo. One of the reasons why I
chose to put a logo in Digipak is because its quite a simple and easy logo to
remember, which is good for when I promote my final product. The image
can get stuck in people heads because the logo stands out in the Digipak
and enjoy it from a recent survey which I handed out to random people. The
types of questions I ask was Should I Include a Logo? Which logo should I
use? What colour should I have the logo? And the results helped me create
my final choice. As well as a logo I have also used different sorts of text
which I have used, after being inspired by other example, but
stereotypically you will always have a list of songs that are played on the
CD inside, and I have also added some of the lyrics which help best
represent Freedom and Adventure, s that people who read it know
exactly what genre music it is and what the Cd is about, its almost like a
representation of what the CD plays.
