Sport Pedagogy Lesson Plan Template (Elementary and Middle

Lesson Focus: The main focus of this lesson is to teach # Of students: 10 Students
students the skill of how to throw and catch a ball
while in motion.

Equipment and Facilities: Blacktop, 10-20 cones, 5


Soft large sponge balls, 10 flags.

Safety Considerations: Because we are on a black top I


would make sure to clear the ground of all objects
students might trip over. Also, pick an area clear of
basketball poles or playground equipment.

Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: Students will have one
warning, and two strikes after that. After the last strike
the student will sit out for a few minutes while the
other students play.

Previously Learned Skills: Students should have some


throwing ability and able to track and possibly catch a
ball.

Teaching Strategy: Direct teaching and student


demonstration.

Academic Language: COTS (cues of the skill)


Throwing: Flex, Step, Release.
Catching; Diamond, Track, squeeze.
-Ball high, fingers to the sky,
-Ball Low, fingers to the toes

Objectives:

Psychomotor (P): SWBAT catch a ball while in motion, from a partner 10 yards away 7/10
times during activity.
Cognitive (C): SWBAT recite COTS for the skills of throwing and catching during class to
fellow students and teacher.
H-R Fitness (H): SWBAT stay active with 50% MVPA using the skills learned in the lesson.

throw and catch a ball. We are going to
work on accurately throwing the ball to

Purpose:
The purpose of learning how to throw and
catch is because some of you might want to
play sports or participate in the activities
we have in class. Catching is also vital in
keeping the practice cycle fluent. This also
focuses on students aim and accuracy while
throwing the ball.

throws the ball then they will run
to the next cone, and vice versa.

learned how the modified ultimate frisbee
is played. Students can only take two steps,
and then required to pass a ball to their
teammates. A goal is scored when a player
passes a ball to a partner in the goal area,
