Nothing runs like a Deere!

Making a mad dash to the grocery store in his John

Deere XUV 550 was Emmett Murphy. Of course,
a gallon of moo juice was definitely on the grocery
list (and yes, Emmett had parental supervision) and
loaded up for the trip home. We wonder if we will see
Emmett at the Annual Glasgow Kiwanis Club Easter
Egg Hunt this Saturday, making another big haul with
his John Deere! Beginning at 11:00 at Hoyt Park (next
to the City Pool), age groups will be 1-3, 4-5, & 6-8.

Easter Bunny has arrived

Charlies Easter Bunny makes another surprise visit

on the south side of Glasgow. Hes a pretty good
egg, says Charlie, instead of bringing me candy,
he fetches my beer for me.
In another Maag blog, Charlies brother Danny was
spotted in the Opheim Cafe this morning. As you
may recall, they grew up at what is now known as
the famous Dinosaur Hill west of Glasgow. Danny
was co-author with Reid Coldwell in the writing of
Footprints in the Alley. It is reported that Danny is
helping Todd Westby with calving season.

Shell wow ya!

Among the many highlights of the 2015 Northeast

Montana Relay for Life was Jessica (Jimison) Heir
lending her vocal talents up on stage. Wow! A Glasgow
High School graduate, Jessie will be taking the stage
at Alleys Palace this Saturday night with music starting
at 9:00. If you recall from the summer of 2012, Jessie
(then a 26-year-old) went to Chicago to audition for
American Idol. Out of thousands of hopefuls, she made
the cut. However she declined the trip to Hollywood.
Come out this Saturday night and see why the judges
gave her a gold ticket to Hollywood!

Kindergartners for 2016. The contest will run from April 15th to May
13th. Ballot boxes will be placed in 15 Valley County businesses.

under the childs picture. Each cent will count as a vote. Votes will be
counted twice a week and the results will be in the paper for four weeks.
The finale of the KRC will be May 14th, 2016. Contestants need to be
present to win. The King, Queen, Prince, Princess, and runners-up will

Glasgow High School earns a lot of hardware!

On Wednesday, March
23, 2016, two teams of
Glasgow students competed
in the High School Academic
Olympics, held here in
Glasgow. In the morning
students took four 45 minute
tests in English, Science,
Math, and Social Studies. In
the afternoon they competed
in an oral quiz bowl type
event against teams from
Glendive, Malta, Plentywood,
Wolf Point, and Chinook.
The results on the
written tests were as follows.
Note that some events had
ties with students earning the
same score on a test:
Zach Miller: 2nd English,
2nd Math, 1st Math, 2nd
Social Studies
Mary Fewer: 7th English,
6th Math
Trevor Toavs: 7th English

Logan Gunderson: 6th

Math, 8th Social Studies
Luke Breigenzer: 1st
English, 4th Science, 2nd
Math
Tanner Overby: 5th
Science, 3rd Social
Studies
Ben Miller: 2nd Science
(tied with his brother)

There is also recognition
for the student from each
grade level with the highest
sum of scores on the four tests.
For the first time ( in the past
24 years at least), all the top
students were from Glasgow!
Freshman
Ben
Miller,
Sophomore Tanner Overby,
Junior Luke Breigenzer,
Senior Zach Miller.
For the oral rounds,
Glasgow Team 1 (Micah
Tweten, Tanner Overby,

Luke Breigenzer, Zach Miller,

Mary Fewer) won 3 rounds
to advance to the final game.
Thanks to a bye in the first
round, Glasgow Team 2 (Ben
Miller, Hannah Mickelson,
Rachel Sigmundstad, Logan
Gunderson, and Trevor
Toavs) needed only two wins
to make it to the all Glasgow
finals. Both teams earned their
place in the finals through the
efforts and correct answers
of all their members. The
championship was back and
forth but in the end it was
Glasgow Team 1 winning on
the last 2 questions.

Students went home with
ribbons and medals. The two
team trophies are on display in
the High School office. They
join another trophy won last
year in the written rounds.
