What is a learning Disability?


A neurological disorder, the brain for
a child/person with a learning
disability is wired differently than
others
They are not the same as intellectual
disabilities, sensory impairments, or
autism disorders
They are average or above average
intelligence

ADHD
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder,
which is not the same as learning
disability
Affects 8 to 10 percent of school aged
children
Difficulty of staying focused and
paying attention
There is no exact answer to why
students have ADHD

Post schedule and homework
assignments on childs desk in the
same place everyday
Provide regular and frequent breaks
Have a tutor for students with
ADHD

Visual disability- a hindered ability to make sense of


information taken in by the eyes
Auditory disability- interferes with a person to analyze
or make sense of information taken in through the ears

AudioVoiceDream: Text-to-speech to aid in reading. This app also allows for screen,
font and text size customization and highlighting. It has a built-in dictionary
and works with text from lots of sources (PDF, ebooks, email)
E-books- Students may not be able to listen to audio books but they can use a
kindle or a ipad to read stories or school books
VisualIpad- The Ipad has the capabilities to have a speech recognition for students
that cant see the screen. It will call out the apps and words on the screen to
help students who are visually impaired
Podcast- Students can use this to help them learn without a book.

Writing: Helping them learn!

It is hard to teach student to write, but we can help student


with tools through computers and other tools. Some of
those tools are
Majicpen, this will help student with shapes and dropping
shapes. Also we will use word stash to create flashcards for
student who are having trouble reading and remembering
words.
