Free The Children invites Hamilton students to leadership
conference. HAMILTON, Ont. February 1, 2016 Hamilton students in Grades 6 to 12 will be given the opportunity to participate in a leadership conference hosted by Free The Children starting February 1, 2016. The conference comes as a strategy to increase youth knowledge of child exploitation in third world countries. Change starts with youth. A youth who is given knowledge possesses so much power to make change said Jane Doe, Free The Children Hamilton spokesperson. The youth leadership conference will be a more localized version of the popular event, We Day, which is hosted yearly in Toronto and invites students from across Ontario to attend. The localized event comes as a strategy to reach more youth and give them to tools to make change in their own communities. One of the greatest hopes of Free the Children is to see the students take their newfound knowledge and implement action plans within their own schools in the form of Free The Children clubs and initiatives. As of January 25, 2016, 1500 students from 20 different Hamilton schools have confirmed their attendance. The event is expected to host 2000 students. Free The Children is a non-profit organization that has worked for 20 years to bring awareness to child exploitation in third world countries. Events like We Day leave a lasting impression, empowering youth to take action and develop their education.
