LEED CATEGORY: INTEGRATIVE PROCESS

PREREQUISITES:

Project Planning & Design Execution

Integrative Project Planning & Desing

Action Items: 4 Step Process

Intent
- Maximize opportunities for integrated, costeffective adoption of green design & construction
strategies, emphasizing human health as a
fundamental evaluative criterion for building design,
construction & opertational strategies.
- Utilize innovative approaches & techniques for
green design & construction.

Requirements
- Uses cross-disciipline design & decision making,
beginning in the programming & pre-design phase.
At a minimum, ensure the following process:
- Owners Project Requirement Documents
- Preliminary Rating Goals
- Integrated Project Team
- Design Charrette

Integrative Process Intent

Step 1: Assemble Integrative Progect Team

- Multip-disciplinary team composed of spacially skilled
individuals (Architect, CE, ME, etc.)
- Include owner & owner's representatives
- Needs as many as people as feasible (4 min.)
Step 2: Prepare for Design Charrette
-Perform analysis & research on integrative process (IP) &
review credit.
- Gather info about external elements that may affect
sustainable design (local climate, site, conditions, etc.)
Step 3: Design Charrette with Team
- Set desired LEED Certification Level
- Establish project requirements, benchmarks,
performance targets, etc.
- Tackle possible design issues & develop solutions.
Step 4: Documentation
- Prepare an Owner's Project Requirement (OPR)
Document .
- Includes: Project Goals, Performance & LEED Targets,
Health Mission Statement.
-Check that all set requirement's & commitments have
been met.

- To support high performance, cost effective

project outcomes through early analysis of the
interrelationships among systems.

IIntegrative Process: Execution

1. Become familiar with the integrative process.
2. Conduct preliminary energy research & anlysis.
Collect Information About:
- Local climate, stie conditions, energy sources,
transportation options.
- Dominant energy loads
Compare building energy performance with a
benchmark.
Analyze alternative for laod reduction strategies.
3. Conduct Preliminary Water Research & Analysis
Complete water-related research & anlysis to
support effective & informed discussions about
potential integrative design opportunities
