In all we have a stack of such servers powering up
our Stony Brook Cloud!!
As most of us wont be able to
see the rack in "Action" once it
goes into the server room here
is a Video :)
Action Items:
1. Currently the two power cables are connected through UPS, but
it is recommended to connect one of them to main power supply
and the other to UPS.
2. Brian recommended that we don't need to install the cooling fan
as it would go into the server room which has enough cooling.
For now we have installed it, we shall remove it if not needed.
3. Good news - Dell PowerEdge 2950 has built in support
for Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), we can
use this technology to remotely monitor the health status and
even Warm Reboot the servers. We would explore this soon ..
4. The Linux installation team has begun with the setup.
