History
London first started to grow as an important
settlement when the Romans arrived around
43 AD. In Norman times, London was the firm
favorite as a capital city after the Tower of
London was built in 1066. Around 1603, Jews,
Muslims, and Dutch Traders began to settle in,
starting the diversity that can still be seen
today. Today, London continues to grow in size
and diversity. Here there is a firm reputation
for being tolerant and accepting and for
providing a place for people who have been
persecuted in their own countries.
