Going through a scary thing


Where Are You Going, Where Have You been, by Joyce Carol Oates, illustrates the fear
of a young girl Connie who is being stalked. Connie was out with a boy when a stranger
grabbed her attention and she didn't know how to act. After that evening, her parents left her
home alone and the stranger shows up in her driveway. He tries to persuade her to come
outside with him. She was scared so she tried to call the cops. But, the stranger told her put the
phone down and that no one would get hurt. When the phone was not working, so she gave in
and went to the door and opened it. She left the safety of her home and walked straight into the
arms of her stalker.
