Assignment

1. A short 3- transmission line with an impedance of (5+j20) per phase has sending end and
receiving end voltages of 46.85 KV and 33 KV respectively for some receiving end load at a
p.f. of 0.8 lagging. Determine:
(i)Power Output

(ii) Sending end power factor

2. A short 3- transmission line connected to a 33 KV,50 Hz generating station at the sending

end is required to supply a load of 10 MW at 0.8 lagging power factor at 30 KV at the
receiving end. If the minimum transmission efficiency is to be limited to 96%,estimate the per
phase value of resistance and inductance of the line.

3. A 3- overhead transmission line has a total series impedance per phase of 20080ohms and
a total shunt admittance of 0.001390 siemen per phase. The line delivers a load of 80MW at
0.8 p.f. lagging and 220 KV between the lines. Determine the sending end line voltage and
current by Nominal T method.
