Description/Interpreta This picture visually depicts some of the main
tion
forms of child abuse in the world today. In the first
photo we see a priest with a young boy on his bac
which speaks to the audience about abuse and the
issues with this in the church. The nest picture has
a small girl and her uncle which helps to portray
abuse within the family. The next picture an
American soldier and a foreign child to help
portray the spilled blood of the innocent. Next a
doctor and cancer patient to speak up about

medical neglect. The series also has a gang

member with a little girl to speak to the public
about shootings and their effects on our
community. And finally a large child on the back of
a fast food icon so pour something new onto the
topic of child obesity.
These images are extremely powerful and
communicate very strongly to any audience that
view them. For one thing these images would be a
great use in teaching the importance and
awareness of all of these different social issues,
but also can be used to show students the
importance of power in their own work. It can also
be noted that each of these images portray a very
tangible, powerful and very emotional reaction to
any viewer. It can be gone over with students the
importance of communicating to an audience
through visually invoking powerful emotions within
its viewers. Through this even younger students
can begin to successfully build a better
understanding of the purpose behind art and the
use of it as something to communicate to others
with.
