The Three Cousins

Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany


Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany was born in 1859. His upbringing
was strict and authoritarian. He first studied at the Kassel
Gymnasium, then at the University of Bonn. He became Leader
of Germany in 1888 after his father died. He was the last
German Emperor and King of Prussia. He was also the eldest
grandchild of Queen Victoria. He was a friend of Franz
Ferdinand, so when he got assassinated, Wilhelm II decided to
help Austria-Hungary defeat the Black Hand Gang. He died in
1941 and is buried in Doorn, as he requested not to be buried
in Nazi Germany.

Tsar Nicholas II of Russia


Tsar Nicholas II of Russia was born in 1868, and
became Emperor, or Tsar, of the Russian Empire in
1894, succeeding his father, Alexander III. He had to
face industrial unrest in Russia but the First World War
put a temporary end to it. However in 1918, he and his
family were killed by a firing squad. The Russian
Orthodox Church later made him and his family Saints
in 1981.

King George V of Britain and


Ireland
King George V was born in 1865, and after a short
education at home, he joined the Royal Navy when he
was 12, but left to become king. He was king during
World War 1 and changed his family name to
Windsor to remove any association with Germany,
as Germany was very unpopular at the time. He died
in 1986
