Hypothesis Testing Project

INSTRUCTIONS:
BASIC INFO: You will again use your bias project data, and work with
your original partner. You will need to log onto Canvas and assign you
and your partner to the same group. You will then open this file in
google docs and edit it. Both partners must access the file separately
and contribute in some way. You are also required to peer review
one other groups submission.
SPECIFIC HYPOTHESIS TEST INFO: You will need to use both your
unbiased and bias data. The steps below will just help you set up
your Hypothesis test. You will still have to do all five steps.
1) Define your p =
For example, p= the true proportion of people who prefer cats over
dogs.
2) State your null hypothesis H = p from the unbiased survey.
For example, H : p=.26 or 26% is the true proportion of people that
prefer cats over dogs.
3) State your alternate hypothesis H >, <, or p from the unbiased
survey.
For example, H : p>.26 or the true proportion of people who prefer
cats
over dogs is actually greater than 26%.
We are testing to see if you were able to bias your survey population
enough to make a significant change and reject your null hypothesis.
We know that this bias survey is not measuring a true difference in
the population but the difference you were able to create with bias
wording, interviewer characteristics, anonymity etc.
The next page is the page you will edit google drive.

THIS IS THE PAGE THAT YOU WILL EDIT IN GOOGLE DRIVE.

Type your answers under each question.
Conduct a 1-sided Z-test (or 2-sided if you choose) Show all 5
steps in detail. THEY MUST BE EXACT. See your notes or the
canvas document entitled Formal hypothesis testing in 5 easy
steps
