The book is about children that their


parents are in war and they say about
their experiences when their parents
are in the war. The first chapter is
about three kids and both of their
parents are in the war and since they
live in Canada. The older Kid that is
16 takes care of his brothers and
sisters. He tell us how it's sometimes
hard for him but sometimes the
neighborhood helps him or the base
where his parents are at some
soldiers that know him help out.
Many of this kids are the biggest
losers because sometimes their
parents don't return or their parents
don't come back as they were. one
11-year-old girl states that the war
was just for oil, and for moneygrubbing Americans. Deborah Ellis
wanted to show that kids also are part
of the war because they fight their
own when their parents aren't there.
Also that every should be heard when
it comes to these types of these
situations.

The author Deborah Ellis is best known for her


books -- this series has been published in twentyfive languages, with more than $1 million donated to
Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan and
Street Kids International. She has won the
Governor General's Award, the Ruth Schwartz
Award. She recently received the Ontario Library
Association's President's Award for outstanding
achievement.
