Montage
Description: A montage I made with a spiritual theme consisting of
four images blended together in Photoshop using layer masks, with
typography added.
Date: February 13, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools: Photoshop
Objectives: The message is that Christ is inviting you to his temple
by having has his hand outstretched. The angels are behind Christ
representing that his house is Holy and all who enter will dwell in
peace.
Process: I first found four images that I was going to use. I then
decided to use the Temple as a background and placed my three
other images onto it. I then created a layer mask on all three pictures
and used the brush tool to blend them together so that you cannot
distinguish the individual pictures. After I blended them together I
created some typography and used some special blending options
so they mixed into the clouds. This was all done in Photoshop.

Logos
Description: Logo made by myself for a future security alarm
company.
Date: February 20, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator
Objectives: develope an original logo for a security company to
enhance security.
Process: I decided I wanted to make a logo for a company interested
in going into security sales so I started sketching ideas on paper on
what I could do. I decided I wanted to incorporate a wolf somewhere
into the logo. I made three different ideas and took a vote on which
people liked the most and kept this layout. I got the half side of
a wolfs face to resemble the title of the company. I also picked a
modern looking font that I thought complimented the wolf design.
I used the pen tool to draw the shape of the face and the other
features such as this eyes, nose, etc.

Letterhead
Description: Matching letterhead and business card designed using
a personally created logo.
Date: Febuary 27, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools: Illustrator and InDesign
Objectives: The Company Four Peaks Properties Investments is
directly for the real estate field. The eagle shows some patriotism
to the country as well as the trees involved to take the shape of a
house giving the homeowners a more relaxed outdoorsy feel.
Process: I created the logo by first using shapes and tools in Adobe
Illustrator. Once the Logo was created, I opened a new two page
InDesign document and placed my logo AI file into this document. I
decided to make my first page a letterhead. What I did is I positioned
the logo in the top left corner for my letterhead. I made sure there
was at least .5 away from the edges of the age. I then typed my
contact information into a text box and positioned it on the right hand
side of the letterhead. I made my font size 8 pt to flow across evenly.
I added in a couple lines across the left hand side of the letterhead
to help draw in the eyes to the information as well as separate my
logo from contact information.

indesign document and created a business card to the specifications
given(3.5inches x 2 inches).

Brochure
Description: Portrait Layout Brochure
Date: March 27, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools: InDesign
Objectives: My brochure is focusing on those planning for weddings
and creating memorable experiences for them and for their families.
Process: I set up the Portrait fold in Adobe InDesign. I split my layout
into two sections with the concept that one would be for the outer
section and the other section would be the body of the brochure.I
used black bars throughout the brochure to create repetition and
flow. I deliberately chose wedding photos that showed legit signs
of work in the background to create contrast against the blue and a
thematic element to unite all the photos. For the image of the logo I
used the quick selection tool in Adobe Photoshop to remove the
background of the image. I then used the refine mask dialogue
box to smooth, feather, shift edge and apply contrast to the outline
of the logo and the background. The changes I made in the refine
mask dialogue box made a softer image that didnt look so sharp
and cutout against the brochures background.I created the logo in
Illustrator using the pen tool and then I placed it into InDesign, where
I used the scissors tool to cut the brochure in half. Programs/Tools
Used: Adobe InDesign/Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Photoshop

Flier
Description: Black & White Promotional flier to promote a graduate
leadership conference.
Date: January 23, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools:
Objectives: I am trying to reach recent graduates, who are wanting to have
an attraction of becoming leaders. This flier is to inform them how our
conference will help them achieve this goal.
Process: I First created some sketches of my layout on a blank piece of
paper. I then used my sketch as a guide to create this layout in Adobe
InDesign. I used 3 black boxes for repetition and contrast. I also implemented
into my flier one title for more contrast, and to create a good focal point. I left
2 white spaces in opposite corners and kept my body copy small. I was given
the image, logo, and content for this flier.

Event Ad
Description: A Color full-bleed event ad to help promote a fundraiser
using only Microsoft Word and a scanner.
Date: January 30, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools: Microsoft Word and Scanner
Objectives: I am running a fundraiser in Island park for charity
donations to go towards children diagnosed with cancer. I wanted
the local community who are avid riders to continue riding with the
idea of blessing the lives of others. I feel like both passion for the
sport and charitable service towards others will have tremendous
success and worth checking out.
Process: I originally scanned this image of the snowmobile rider from
Klims 2016-17 snow catalog and then used Microsoft Word to create
my ad. This photo had a lot of white pattern, so I added a shape
with shadow to give it a more artsy effect. I then added boxes of text
with color to give it a various background for repetition. I chose one
font with contrasting weights for simplicity. It was quite exciting for
me to learn the hidden design features of Microsoft Word and how
a successful ad can be created. Programs I used: Microsoft Word,
Epson Scanner, PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter).

Web Page
Description: A webpage designed to showcase a personally created
logo.
Date: March 11, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools: Text editor and Illustrator.
Objectives: My Company Four Peaks Properties Investments is a real
estate investing company specifically designed for those selling /
buying properties.
Process: I made the webpage in Textwrangler. I edited all of the
code with Textwrangler in order to fit the specifications called for. I
validated the webpage online in order to make sure there were no
errors. I then also attached a CSS to my HTML document in order to
more fine tune the text styles and also the colors I wanted. I got my
colors from the logo itself using adobe hex codes via Adobe Kuler.

Photodesign
Description: Demonstrate good photography and image editing
skills. I incorporated color into the poster layout with original photo.
Date: February 5, 2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/ Pingle
Program(s)/Tools: Photoshop and DSL-R photo camera
Objectives: I wanted to make an appealing design with a photo for a
universal inspiring message to motive and build character.
Process: I started out by formulating a plan to work with a split
complementary color scheme from the Visual FOCUS book as a
layout. I went to capture a quality photo with good light, sharp focus,
and with nice foreground. I used my sisters digital Nixon camera to
capture the photo. I then brought the photo into Photoshop and used
the following techniques for editing: levels, sharpness, and color
balance. Then I designed an 8.5 x 11 layout for my image, text, and
repeating design elements. I incorporated my color scheme title,
color swatches, and color names into my design. I used the color
wheel from Comm130 and eye picked the certain colors to function
with my image. I really enjoyed adding something new to the photo
design by simply adding blue lines by my title which give it a more
eye gripping layout. This in effect helped my establish a successful
color swatch.
