Nervous System
The Nervous System (NS) is
composed of 3 main parts:
1 - The Brain
2 - The Spinal Cord
3 - The Peripheral System

FUNCTIONS
We're going to show 2 important functions of the Peripheral Nervous System; Voluntary
and involuntary actions

Involuntary
Involuntary (Reflex) actions are when the Spinal Cord intercepts stimulus from the
outside environment and sends a fast response to your effectors instead of forwarding
it to the Brain.

EX: Reflex actions occur all the time. For instance, blinking, digestion and your
heartbeat are all involuntary actions.

Representation
We are representing Involuntary
actions and the path of nerves with red
LEDs

The Sensory nerves detect stimulus

and sends a signal to the Spinal Cord.

Voluntary
A Voluntary action is when you initiate a specific action by your own conscious. Your
Brain sends impulses to your effectors (muscles, etc) through the Spinal Cord.

EX: Dancing, running, singing, etc.

Representation
We are representing voluntary actions
and the path of nerves to the effectors
with blue LEDs

The Brain sends a signal via Relay

neurons to motor and sensory nerves
to perform the action.
