2) In their on going quest to improve existing products by creating smaller components and
better performance materials, all at a lower cost, the number of companies that will manufacture
"nanoproducts" (by this definition) will grow very fast and soon make up the majority of all
companies across many industries. What undesirable effects it will bring to society?
3) Carbon nanotubes are produced through the manipulation of the atoms of carnono. What is
your opinion as to the manipulation at the nanoscale? Do you agree or disagree?
4) In an interview done by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, added
Monteiro-Riviere: "My concern with nanotechnology in developing countries would be that
these countries maintain occupational and environmental safety guidelines to ensure that
working with nano-materials in developing these industries would not create problems that could
be avoided." You were the team of engineers assigned to develop this guideline. What would be
your recommendations?
5) Nanotechnology may yield life-saving improvements across fields ranging from sunscreen to
military equipment. What do you expect from nanotechnology discoveries for the future?
