Description: My brochure is of the fashion brand Kate


Spade at New York Fashion Week. It shows off the
clothes, shoes and accessories of her fashion week
show.

Kate Spade
Summer Collection

New York Fashion Week 2016

Objectives: Create an appealing New York Fashion


Week brochure for the designer,
Kate Spade.

Shoes & Accessories

Sequins, pom poms, tassels, bold patterns,


bright colors, and Kates signature style on
all of her pieces.

Every year, Kate Spade


continues to dominate in
the world of must have
shoes and accessories.

Some of the best pieces of the collection


include the Ella dress (left) that is
layered chiffon with hand stitched
beading and sequins in colors that give
it a modern look with a bold feel.

Process: I created the NYFW logo in adobe illustrator.


It is a simple button logo with text wrap surrounding
the middle. I created the brochure in adobe indesign
and made it a gate fold. For the front, I split one photo
in two so the gate fold would make it one photo and
match up perfectly. I have the brand on the left and the
logo on the right. For the inside, I wanted the photos on
the sides to stand on their own so I placed all the text in
the center with the text wrap on the center photo. The
back has the general description and the website you
can go to for more information and Kate Spade clothing.

Details are a must, especially in the


Summer Loving clutch, with a
sunglasses print and red and
blue tones.

Look out for the Kelly Dress


(center) with its bright coral red
pattern that stands out among
the rest.

The Lizzie shoes (right) are the


essence and star of the collection as
they radiate fun with their laced up,
colorful details.

The paired use of summer


colors and prints hit a high
note for women everywhere
ready to take on their
brightest, boldest, and most
fashionable summer yet.

The necklaces, earrings, scarves,


shoes, bags and other accessories
of the new collection can all be
seen up close on the NYFW
app under Kate Spade
Summer 2016.

Stationery
Description: This is a business card and matching
letterhead for a vintage boutique company.
Program: Adobe Illustrator
Date Completed: Febuary 27, 2016
Course & Section: Visual Media. Section 2.
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: Create a memorable and fun logo for a
specific audience and client.
Process: I began creating the bird logo in Adobe
Illustrator. It was made using only the triangle tool and
the brush tool to create the designs within it. I took that
logo and used it in my business cards in Adobe InDesign.
I used fonts from Dafont.com that went well with the
texture in the logo and complimented it nicely with a
decorative and sans serif font. I made the background
color a light blue/turquoise color to compliment the
colors in the logo but be subtle enough that it just adds a
nice accent. I made them in a triangle to coordinate with
the triangles in the logo.

Logo
Description: This is a logo designed to represent a company
called Charlies Confectionery Emporium.

Instructor: Ben Pingel


Objectives: Create a fun and decorative logo to represent a
specific clients candy store.
Process: I used adobe illustrator to create the logo design.
To create the doughnut, I used the circle shape to create
the doughnut and the frosting. I used smaller circles to
create the bite out of the doughnut and the line on the
frosting to create spaces where you can see the doughnut
underneath. I used the square tool to create the sprinkles
and then rounded their edges. I downloaded the fonts from
dafont.com to make sure they went along with the fun and
quirky theme.

Montage
Description: This is a picture of my parents wedding photo
from 1987. The Denver temple shown here is where
they were married. I wanted to create a montage of them
imbedded in the temple.
Program: Adobe Photoshop
Date Completed: February 12, 2016
Course & Section: Visual Media. Section 2.
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: Create a beautiful montage of several photos
and textures.
Process: I used photoshop to create the image. I had to
add my parents photo, the entire sky with clouds in the
background, and the texture on top of everything to give
it the old 80s style ensign feel.

Museum
of
Modern
Art

Description: This is a benefit poster for modern art that


is featuring a famous piece of modern art by Jackson
Pollock. I tried to incorporate the decorative pieces on
the text side and keep the font simple but still modern.
The colors are all the same and keep with the scanned
image.
Program: Microsoft Word

Please join us for a night dedicated to helping


raise money and awareness for restoring and
preserving priceless modern art at the MOMA.

Objectives: Create a visually pleasing event ad for the


Museum of Modern Art.

Process: After I scanned in the image, I used Microsoft


word to create everything else and downloaded the
fonts from dafont.com to give it a modern edge and go
with the
artistic theme.

Description: This is a webpage showcasing my logo and
tying in the colors and textures used in it. This website
describes how I created this logo and the company I
created the logo for.
Program: Adobe Illustrator and Text Wrangler
Date Completed: March 13, 2016
Course & Section: Visual Media. Section 2.
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: Create a webpage to show off a company
logo.
Process: I created my logo in Adobe Illustrator and then
inserted the logo png file into my html sheet on Text
Wrangler. I started by creating my HTML and filling it with
all of the content I would want on my page describing
my logo and the process creating it. I was sure to place
everything inside of its appropriate tag to make sure it
fit the correct format with the heading, subheading, list
and inserted link to my blog. Later I validated my HTML
to make sure it did not have any errors. After I did this, I
connected my css to my html page and from there was
able to change the format with colors, text size, fonts,
color banners, padding and margin elements. I was able
to change the colors with the specific hex code with the
eyedropper tool.

Photography
& Photoshop
Description: I have my Colorado flag hanging in my room
and I have always loved it use of primary colors and how
they all contrast against each other. I have the Denver
skyline against the flag and the Love is coming home as
my caption.

Course & Section: Visual Media. Section 2.
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: Create a montage of a personal photograph
and an outline and quote to compose a overall message.
Process: I used Adobe Photoshop to create the design and
a Cannon 70D to take the photo of the flag. I incorporated
the FOCUS color design principle of primary colors to
match the flag.

Flyer
Description: This flyer is decorative and minimalist. It
captures the key components of the message and adds a
small amount of design without being overbearing. The
color is not all black and white but incorporates the grey in
it as well. It is easy to read and all the information is placed
together to keep the flow together.

Date Completed: January 22, 2016
Course & Section: Visual Media. Section 2.
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: Create a simple looking event flyer with a
heirarchy of information.
Process: I used Adobe Indesign to produce the flyer and
used shape tools to help draw focus into the flyer. A
couple FOCUS principles used are shape to help organize
the negative and positive space into creating an overall
good looking gestalt. I also used the principle of contrast in
the value of the colors to give a variety of shades even in a
black and white print.
