Imaging
Description: A design project using a photo
taken by me and edited in Photoshop
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS
Principles): I used Photoshop to edit the
photo and create the final product. I added
a quote to the image and defined the color
scheme within the design using both
text at the bottom as well as using color
swatches.
Editing: In the editing process, I cropped
the background out of the original
image, keeping only the controller so the
background color wouldnt interefere with
the color scheme of the design. I made
small adjustments to the positioning of the
quote as well as the box it resides in.

Brochure
Description: A project to design a brochure
for promoting a fictional company
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used
InDesign to create the pages of the
brochure, Illustrator to create the logo
for the company, and Photoshop to edit
the images within the brochure so their
background would be transparent and
so the text in the brochure body could be
wrapped around them.
Editing: There were a few changes made
to my brochure. I edited the logo so that it
didnt have the text as part of it. All of the
diagonal lines throughout the design were
added during the editing stage as well as a
couple of the other displaced boxes.

Flier
Description: A project to design a flier
promoting a leadership conference using
only greyscale
Process: I used InDesign to create the
actual flier, using the text I was provided
with and selecting one image and logo
from the ones provided by the class to
use in the flier. I really wanted to do a
good job utilizing white space, as it has
been emphasized in the course. I spent
a lot of time with the sketches and the
planning for the design, and then once I
was critiqued I focused on the simplifying
process to bring everything together.
Editing: For editing, I brought down the
words Leadership Conference so they
werent so close to the box containing
graduate. I also adjusted the placement of
the website information.

Event Ad
Description: A project to design a fullbleed event ad flier using only Microsoft
Word and a scanned image
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS
Principles): For the project image, I
scanned an image from the CD Booklet of
Panic! at the Discos album Too Weird To
Live, Too Rare To Die. I used the scanner
that I have at my house and had to play
around with it a little but it ended up
working really well! I used only Microsoft
Word to create the ad.

Logos
Description: In this project we designed a
logo for a company that we made up and
then made three variations of it
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): The
only program used for this project was
Illustrator and the tools within that
program. I created three variations of the
logo: one in color, one in greyscale, and
one white with a color background.
Editing: I made a few changes to the logo.
I aligned the words Dark and Records with
each other and aligned the words Music
Studio to the right so that it didnt hang
awkwardly in the center. I also made the
outline of the skull bolder.

Web Page
Description: A project to design a basic
web page displaying the Logo Project from
earlier to show my skill with HTML and
CSS
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used my
text editor Notepad++ to edit and make the
HTML and CSS coding used to create this
page. The pages were created separately,
with each one saved as a .html and .css
file, respectively. A link to the CSS file was
placed in the HTML file as well as an image
of the logo created earlier in the course.
Editing: As part of the editing process, I
had to make some changes to the body
font so that I was not using two different
types of Serif font. I also adjusted the
background color of the image so that it
wasnt bold white standing out against
everything else.

Letterhead
Description: There were two parts to the
Stationary Project: a business card and a
letterhead
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used
InDesign and Illustrator to make the
project. The logo was created in Illustrator
and then transferred over into InDesign
to create the letterhead. The information
on the business card was put into the
letterhead in addition to the logo across
the top.
Editing: I adjusted the colors on the large,
transparent image so that they matched
the original logo and moved a few of the
top elements around so that they were
better aligned.

Business Card
Description: This is the second part to the
Stationary Project: the business card.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used
Illustrator to create the business cards
and the logo on them. I included all of
the necessary contact information for the
made up business. Applying the same
color scheme to both the business cards
and the letterhead was important to make
the two parts of the project fit together.
Editing: For editing, I lightened the
background color so the black scent lines
from the soup stood out more. I also added
the green line into the logo so that it could
be used in the letterhead as well.

Montage
Description: A montage project made with at
least two images with a spiritual theme.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): The
montage was created using Photoshop with
the main tools being masks on layers to
allow images to blend together rather than
have sharp edges. I used three images, one
in the background and two to go on top. I
added a layer mask to the two images on the
background so they could be blended. I then
added the text on its own separate layer.
Editing: I edited the text in this montage so
that the words were aligned on the left side
of the page.
