a vote to see which logo was liked the most. Using the pen
tool I was able to refine the look of my chili. I feel it looks
more realistic now. I also worked on my typography fonts
and placement.

Objectives:
Learn basic photography skills. Use a digital camera to take

Adjust the brightness, sharpness and colors on layers; design
the text all in Photoshop.
Process:
Using a Sony Cybershot I searched out locations in town
where I could capture an image with the color scheme I
had chose in advance. I pulled up on the side of the road
and stood on my truck so I could take a picture without
the barbwire fence of the airplanes that are on reserve at
Davis Monthan Air Force Base. After reviewing my photos,
I selected this one that includes a bird on top of the plane
that is also resting. I uploaded this into Photoshop, following
advise on the videos provided in the assignment, I played
around with the settings to get try and get familiar with
Photoshop. I wasnt pleased with my draft; thankfully I had
some good advise from the critiques. I decided to put a text
box around my text and use the gradient feature to draw
more attention to the bird. I added my swatches and color
scheme to finish everything off.

Process:
I used the rectangle tool to create the front and back outline
of my business card. Then I copied/pasted the logo and
contact information onto this page. I kept the logo and
contact information about the same size as the information
on the letterhead. I made sure that no important information
came any closer than 1/8 from the edges.

line tool to divide up my images from my body copy.
For the image of the bicycle wheel I used the magic wand
tool to trace the image and remove the background in Adobe
Photoshop. I then placed the wheel into InDesign where I
used the text wrap option to place the text around the image
of the wheel. I created the logo in Illustrator using the pen
and brush tool and then I placed it into InDesign.

Montage
Description:
An inspirational montage made by the blending of three
images, and the use of typography.
Date:
February 13, 2016
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13 - Emily Kunz
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Learn to manage Photoshop layers. Learn to blend
images together smoothly, using masks. Use filters. Apply
appropriate typography.
Process:
First I cropped my background image of the statue to 8.5 x
11 inches. I made a copy of the image to have an original or
my photo. I added the photo of the youth trek and cropped it.
I used the lasso tool to select the group of youth and pulled
them out of the picture and added it to the pioneer statue. I
added a mask and using the brush tool I softened the edges
around the youth. I added a paper background from textures.
com and placed it on top of both images. Using the multiply
selection to create an opacity so my images would show
through. This darkened the images making it possible to read
my body copy. I then put a mask over the texture and poked
a hole over the brightest parts of the statue and the youth to
bring them forward. I added my text and selected the fonts,
styles and sizes on a few select words to create emphasis on
the message.
