Geotechnics

Introduction
Geotechnical engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with
the analysis, design, and construction of foundation, slopes, retaining
structures, embankments, tunnel, levees1, wharves, landfills, and other
systems that are made of or are supported by soil or rock. There are several
of latest geotechnics technology that haves been used nowadays such as
site investigation methods, slope stabilized methods and soil stabilized
methods and others. For that, this report would like to focus on the slope
stabilized methods on the mechanically stabilized wall/earth. Mechanically
stabilized wall/earth is soil constructed with artificial reinforcing. It can be
used for retaining walls, bridge abutments, seawalls, and dikes2 even though
the basic principles of MSW/MSE have been used throughout history. The
reinforcing elements used can vary but include steel and geosynthetics. The
wall face is often of precast, segmental blocks, panels or geocells that can
tolerate some differential movement. Some advantages of MSE walls are
their ease of installation and quick construction. So, this method is one of
many methods that used in these days.

2 A long wall or embankment built to prevent flooding from the sea or a ditch or
watercourse.

Conclusion
From the content that have been write in this report, we now that
