April Kindergarten News

http://kindersatplayholyfamily.weebly.com/

We are heading into the home stretch of the school year! Over these next three months, we have a lot to do
including preparing for the Kindergarten Farewell! Some of the things the students will be learning now
until June include: Geometry and Measurement (Mathematics); The Best Part of Me (Health); Magnets,
Butterflies, and Plants (Science), First Nations and Treaty Education (Social Studies); Story Recall and
Retell, Letter Sounds and Recognition (English Language Arts).
Thank you for attending the three-way conferences. It was a pleasure spending time with you and
celebrating your childs learning.
April Scholastic order forms will be sent home this week and will be due Monday, April 11 (ordering is
optional).
The Kindergarten to Grade 8 Inquiry of Learning Celebration (What is Our Story?) will be on Wednesday,
April 13. Our class inquiry of learning will focus on each students own Kindergarten learning story
through play. A formal invitation with more information about the celebration will be sent home this week.
Show and Share Fridays will be on April 15th and 29th. Students may bring one item to show and share
the class. Your child can bring their discovery bottle to show and share with the class at any time this
month.
There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, April 25 - Staff PLD.
Please return your childs School Learning Portfolio and envelope from the Progress Report.
Parents are more than welcome to spend some time with us in the classroom. I have created a Doodle
calendar for the next three months. Click the link to sign up for a day/time that works for you http://

SAVE-THE-DATE - Our Kindergarten Class Farewell will be on Wednesday, June 22 at 2:15 pm. More
information about the Farewell will be given at a later date. Please note that this is NOT the last day of
Kindergarten.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious
learning. Play is really the work of childhood.
