Literacy Task
For this project our group had to make a space station. We had to
design a space station that orbits the earth. It is important to make the station
spin fast enough so you can create pseudo-gravity. It is also important to
make the station large enough so that people arent too close to the center
and get sick. Our space stations radius is 70,000 meters. The equation to
find rotations per second of the station would be
2

a=w r

a is the speed the station needs to rotate, which is 9.81 m/s. w Is omega,
which is the amount of rotations and r is the radius. So we can set the
equation up like
w=
w=0.01184

This means that the rotations per second are 0.01184 rotations. Another thing
we can do is find what the coordinates of the station will be after a certain
amount of seconds. First we need to find what the radians per second are. To
do that we can multiply omega by 2 pi.
0.01184 2 =0.0743552
