The residential treatment facility is located in the central part of Dallas. This facility
treats adolescences with drug and alcohol addictions and abuses. This is an inpatient and
outpatient facility. An adolescent can be place into the facility through assessment. Individuals
must first be referred to facility through the police department, school, and sometimes parents.
The individual must first be referred. After referrals the staff will assess the individual and
determine the severity of their addictions and abuses. After the assessment the staff will contact
the families and discuss a treatment plan. After they discuss a treatment plan they will schedule
an admissions date and begin administering services to these individuals in order to get them to a
healthy state.
Most insurance companies pay for this type of residential care. If a client were to pay out
of pocket it will be 10,500 for thirty days. Companies will pay for up to 45 day at a rate 13,500.
Majority of adolescents stay for a total of 30 days, in more extreme cases individuals stay 45

days. The average rate of return is not too high and individuals normally receive follow up
counseling sessions before being readmitted. This facility treats adolescents from the age of 1315. There is no evidence of it being more of one age group than another. There is a correlation
between single parent homes and number of adolescents involved with that familial background.
The treatment deals with developmental differences through the use of grouping. Some
groups are more developmentally advanced than others. They typically group together in age and
rarely mix the age groups. The facility caters to inpatient and outpatients. The type of patient
services determines the amount of severity in the addiction or health. The patient attitudes are
typically positive. Many of the clients enjoy helping, participating, and thankful. Many clients
enjoy being there it is similar to be a young adult on their own with minimal parental
supervision.
A typical day in the facility varies but generally follows the same type of schedule.
Clients generally wake up, eat breakfast, and go to group. An afternoon at the facility usually
begins with clients will going to school/class, eating lunch, and group therapy. In the evenings
they go to break and go to another group. After the final group session adolescents have a snack
before going back to their rooms. They have licensed teacher on staff for class/school. The
teachers are from Dallas ISD.
The facility houses clients in two or four persons per room. There is normally no violence
or suicide seen at the facility. Families are there to increase the growth of the client while
learning how to cope and manage addictions. The family can participate in family therapy on the
facility. There are set visitation hours for the families to come in and they must be on the
visitation list. There is staff on location 24/7. There will be a nurse, psychiatrist, direct staff, and
LPC on staff. At all times there will be a nurse and psychiatrist on staff. Client privileges
depends on the client. Clients that are dismissed are required to follow up for a month after being
discharged from the facility.

The treatment facility was a very lovely facility to visit. Upon arrival there were staff
member outside with a group of teens teaching them how to barbeque. I thought this was a
wonderful site and it would be appreciated to teach children how to take care of themselves. The
secretary was of no help. She told me she could not help me because she had a client intake
assessment to complete. I had to call the corporate office and complain, this would be bad if I
had plans for my child to go and they were not helpful for me. Overall I believe the facility is
doing a wonderful job, I can see it in the way the staff interacted with the children. There was so
much information to learn. I was very shocked when they mentioned they do not have violence
or rebelliousness. I would have assumed they would be dealing with a lot of violence between
clients because they shared rooms. I was also shocked by the amount it costs to have inpatient
services.
