As far as testing goes, students at Blythewood averaged about a point higher in every category
on the ACT compared to the state and district. Blythewood has over an 80% passing rate on all of
the End of Course exams, with Algebra 1 having a 90% passing rate.

Period 2, Government CP
My second period government class is one of my quieter classes. They tend to get their work
done and also stay involved during lecture.
The gender make-up of the class is fifty percent male and fifty percent female. The ethnic makeup1 is roughly 50% white, 45% percent African American and 5% Hispanic.
In terms of extracurricular activities, thirty percent of the students said that they participate in
some sort of sport. These sports range across the board from cheerleading, to track and field.
Half of the students also said that they are involved in the arts in one way or another.
Their tests scores are as follows:

For this Long Range Plan I looked at the test scores that students have taken in the last year. As
we can see here, the SAT scores tend to cluster, with one or two outliers. The ACT scores do not,
but that is because they are on such a smaller scale.
There is only one student with an IEP in this class. They receive extra test time and go to a
different room during tests.
Period 4, Government CP
My fourth period class is again, usually pretty good at getting their work done and being
involved in class. Because this class is right before lunch they do sometimes need to be brought
back in.
The gender make-up is 47 percent male to 53 percent female. Ethnically, 47% white, 37%
African American, and 16% are mixed race.
Only one students said that they participate in a sport and three students are involved in the arts
in one way or another.
The test scores are as follows:

I only included the SAT scores here because only two students have taken the ACT in the last
year. Again, the test scores seem to cluster, even more so then the previous class.
In fourth period I only have one student with an IEP. They also go up to a different room to take
tests because they are given extra time on them.
Period 6, Government CP
My sixth period class can be a pretty big handful sometimes. At 28 students, they are the largest
class that I have. Because of that, they can get out of hand sometimes. That being said, they are
really good students and do participate in discussion.
The gender make-up of the class is 43% female and 57% male. Ethnically, the class is 35%
percent white and 65% African American.
Just over half of the students play sports, some students play more than one. A little under half of
the students are involved in the arts in some way.
The test scores are as follows:

The scores here seem to be a little more spread out then the previous classes. What this tells me
is that there is some discrepancy between the levels of the students.
In this class there is again only one student with an IEP. They also go to another room to take
their tests so that they can have extra time.
Period 7, Government CP
My seventh period class is almost the polar opposite of my sixth period class. There are only
fifteen of them in the class and they are all very quiet.
The gender make-up of the class is 60% percent male and 40% percent female. The ethnic makeup is forty percent African American, 53% percent white, and 7% Hispanic.
Half of the students play sports and forty percent of the students are involved in the arts.
The test scores are as follows:

These are probably my most consistent test scores. Besides one outlier in each graph, all of the
scores cluster together.
In this class I have two students with IEPs. They go to another class to take their tests for extra
time.
Period 8, Government CP
Period 8 is a great class to have at the end of the day. The students, while talkative, do get their
work done. I do find myself having to reel them back in sometimes.
The gender makeup of the class is actually pretty interesting, it is 71% percent female and 29%
percent male. The ethnic makeup is 59% African American and 41% white.
Half of the students play sports and forty percent of the students are involved in the arts.

These tests scores are all relatively spread out. What this tells me is that the students may be on
different levels within the class. I have noticed this. There do seem to be some students who just
get the material faster than others. However, I do want to say that I take standardized tests scores
with a grain of salt. I definitely would not use them to make judgements about a students or
students.
There are no students with IEPs in this class
